Homeless alliance to open applications for federal money to support housing programs

The Mid-Willamette Valley Homeless Alliance is accepting applications from local organizations serving homeless people to receive federal Housing and Urban Development funds.

The Marion-Polk region is receiving $861,586 to support local homeless assistance programs. The alliance coordinates local spending on housing and homelessness programs.

Applications that focus on serving people experiencing chronic homelessness, youth, people fleeing domestic violence or sexual assault, families and veterans will be prioritized for funding.

Priorities for the funding include data collection about people experiencing homelessness, minimizing or eliminating barriers to housing and alignment with the alliance’s goals and objectives outlined in its strategic plan.

Applications must be submitted by Sept. 30. Prior to submitting an application, applicants are required to participate in a virtual conference session on Sept. 9 via Zoom.

Local competition materials will be available for review on Sept. 2 by 5 p.m. and can be accessed and downloaded from the Alliance website, MWVHomelessAlliance.org. People with disabilities needing assistance in accessing and reviewing materials should contact Carla Munns at [email protected] or 503-539-3377.
