Eight Salem arts nonprofits are among 97 groups across the state to receive a grant from the Oregon Arts Commission.

Each nonprofit received $1,159 as part of the commission’s Small Operating Grants program, according to a press release. The grants are awarded to arts nonprofits with budgets under $150,000 and sustained artistic programming and outreach. They can be used for expenses like rent and utilities or specific projects.

The Salem nonprofits include Festival Chorale Oregon, Keizer Creative Art Association, Oregon Artists Series Foundation, Oregon Spirit Chorus, Salem Philharmonia Orchestra, Salem Pops Orchestra, The Verona Studio and Willamette University.
