Lisa M. Walz has taken over as the first radio station manager of KMWV 98.3 FM.

The station was launched in September by Capital Community Media, an organization funded by Comcast franchise fees that operates three community-focused cable channels.

With Walz’s hire, KMWV will now begin developing programming, likely starting with a morning commute show, said Kirimi Flitter, programming and promotion coordinator at Capital Community Media.

Walz has a background in event coordination, on-air talent, marketing, station management and community engagement. She previously managed Washington State University’s COUG radio station, where she increased programming and staffing.

KMWV’s mission is “ to empower all people to communicate and provide community information through media,” according to a press statement. The station will share 98.3 FM with its partner, Radio Poder (KTUP), which has a focus on the area’s Spanish-speaking population. From 6 p.m. to 10 a.m., listeners will hear KMWV. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. listeners will hear Spanish programming curated by KTUP.

Capital Community Media is currently renovating its new multimedia wing, which will house the radio station that will feature a state-of-the-art production studio.
