Listen to Martin Luther King Jr. speak or watch a documentary to celebrate

Salem residents can hear Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s “I Have a Dream” speech and “Letters From Birmingham Jail” during a special broadcast Monday at noon.

Indie radio station 105.5 The Moon and Epilogue Kitchen and Cocktails are partnering to host a “Make the Dream” park-in event in downtown Salem, according to a Facebook event.

Residents are invited to park their cars downtown and crank up the volume on the speeches, which will be broadcast on 105.5 FM starting at noon.

Epilogue is also serving 200 free meals starting at 11 a.m., with a vegetarian and vegan option, according to a Facebook event. The meals will be first come, first serve.

The Salem-Keizer NAACP has organized a screening Monday of “The Witness: From the Balcony of Room 306,” a 32-minute documentary about King’s assassination.

The film will be shown at noon and 6 p.m. on Capital Community Media Channel 21, with a panel discussion to follow. More information is available on the Salem-Keizer NAACP website.
