In favor of an Oregon fur ban, animal right activists rallied at the Capitol

A group of animal rights activists gathered in front of the Oregon State Capitol to protest the sale of fur and the inhumane way people kill animals on Sunday, Jan. 26.
Dani Rukin, organizer for Compassionate PDX, is part of a group that wants to see fur sales banned in Portland.
“We are here because we believe that using animals for fur is inhumane, we have a moral obligation to stand up for those more vulnerable than us, including animals,” Rukin said.
The group of about 50 showed up Sunday hopeful that a statewide ban will be introduced in the 2021 legislative session. Last year, California passed a bill outlawing the sale and manufacture of new fur clothing and accessories.
