Tuesday night will likely be a short meeting for the Salem-Keizer School Board, with just a handful of items on the agenda.

Board members will meet in executive session at 5 p.m. to discuss real estate transactions and labor negotiations. That session is closed to the public.

At 6 p.m., the board will reconvene to consider proclamations on Hispanic Heritage Month and natural disaster preparedness.

They’ll also vote on a memorandum of understanding which would allow Superintendent Christy Perry to sit on a committee working to develop a regional homeless services continuum of care. Currently, Salem is part of a much larger group, but local advocates believe the region would get more state funding by splitting off. The memorandum would let Perry be part of the group developing a plan over the next six to nine months, at a cost of $5,000.

Board members will evaluate Superintendent Christy Perry on her relationships with staff and volunteers, part of a monthly series of evaluations done over the course of the year.

They’ll accept grants, including money for a preschool program and outdoor school, and approve new hires, resignations and other personnel changes.

They’ll also review the board and budget committee meeting schedules.
