Salem police say they are not investigating a shooting in a northeast Salem business district because those at the scene, including the woman who was shot, declined to talk with police.

Matthew Hansen, 32, shot and killed 32-year-old Amanda Mankins of Salem in January 2021 at a northeast Salem home. Hansen was charged at the time with second-degree murder but pleaded guilty on Oct. 2 to a lesser charge of first-degree manslaughter.
Police say Jody L. Miehl, 50, was killed in a collision Thursday morning at the intersection of South River Road and South Viewcrest Drive. A 13-year-old passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The state Board on Public Safety Standards and Training on Aug. 31 found Jeffrey Keniston used his authority to gain a sexual relationship with a domestic violence victim. His attorney notified the state on Tuesday that he is challenging the revocation of his license.
