Pedestrian killed Tuesday in downtown Salem crash

Update 4 p.m.: Salem Police Department spokesman Lt. Treven Upkes said Tuesday afternoon that the driver has been taken to Salem Hospital for an evaluation.

Roads have been reopened except for Center Street Northeast, between 12th and 13th streets.

Upkes said more information will be provided tomorrow.

A pedestrian died after being hit by a car near Center Street Northeast around 2:42 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Salem Police Department.

Salem police spokesman Lt. Treven Upkes said a portion of Center Street Northeast will be closed temporarily, between Capitol Street Northeast and 14th Street Northeast.

12th Street Northeast is also closed between Marion Street Northeast and Chemeketa Street Northeast.
