Salem-Keizer school board members will consider a supplemental budget for this year to reflect extra grant funding, vote on a board candidate for the Willamette Educational Service District and adopt a proclamation for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month at a meeting Tuesday.
The supplemental budget reflects an additional $4 million in grant funding from state and federal sources Salem-Keizer has received over the course of the year. The board is required to approve the budget so that money can be spent.
Board members will hear a presentation from the Mid-Willamette Homeless Initiative Continuum of Care at 5:15 p.m. and begin the business meeting at 6 p.m. They will also read a resolution supporting a new continuum of care for the region, which would allow local agencies serving homeless people to receive dedicated state and federal funds.
They will consider electing Qurat “Anna” Ali to represent the district on the Willamette Educational Service District board. Ali is running unopposed.
Board members will hear presentations from Sodexo, the district’s food service provider, and an update on school construction.
They will also read a resolution exempting a proposed downtown apartment building complex on State Street from property taxes, and read a property easement agreement with the City of Keizer allowing the city to continue operating a water well and pump station on the McNary High School campus.
