AGENDA: Salem-Keizer board and budget committee dive in to $1.19 billion in proposed spending

Salem-Keizer school board and budget committee members will have a chance to question district staff about Superintendent Christy Perry’s proposed $1.19 billion budget for the 2019-20 school year Tuesday.

The budget maintains current district services with no layoffs or furloughs and adds some bus drivers and other transportation staff to accommodate school attendance boundary changes.

The budget committee is a 14-member group including all seven elected school board directors, as well as seven community volunteers selected by the board.

No public comment will be taken at Tuesday’s meeting, but the budget committee will take comments at subsequent meetings May 7 and 20.

Meeting details: 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 30 at the district’s Support Services Center, 2575 Commercial Street S.E.

Board members: Kathy Goss, Sheronne Blasi, Marty Heyen, Jesse Lippold, Paul Kyllo, Jim Green and Chuck Lee.

Community budget committee members: Levi Herrera-Lopez, Kathleen Harder, Adam Kohler, Adriana Miranda, Virginia Stapleton, Rachel Dewey-Thorsett, Cynthia Stinson
