PHOTOS: Weekend event in Salem raises money to help kids

They dressed as superheroes or just put on their running outfits and called it good.

They came in teams of family members, of colleagues at work, and of informal collections intent on helping and having fun.

The annual superheroes runs got underway Saturday, June 18, at Riverfront Park in Salem. There were 5K and 10K runs but also a family-oriented one-mile fun run.

Money from the event goes to CASA of Marion County, which provides support for abused and neglected children, representing them in court proceedings.
