Employees in Marion County District Attorney’s Office file to form union

Marion County District Attorney Paige Clarkson (Paige Clarkson)

Employees of the Marion County District Attorney’s Office have filed a petition to form a union.

The June petition, filed June 3 with the state Employment Relations Board, contained no details about the employees’ reasons for seeking unionization.

The union would include about 28 employees – deputy district attorneys and trial team leaders – of the district attorney’s office, according to the petition.

They listed the organization they’re seeking representation from as the Marion County Deputy District Attorneys Association.

Marion County District Attorney Paige Clarkson declined to comment, and did not clarify whether she would voluntarily recognize the union or force it to go to an election.

Clarkson won re-election last month to a four year term that begins January 2023.

Traci Anderson, an attorney listed as a representative for the employees, declined to comment. She said the petition is pending an administrative decision and responses by both the Employment Relations Board and Clarkson.
