Residents of north and northeast Salem have a chance to help steer conservation, rehabilitation and redevelopment in their community.

There are two openings on the North Gateway Redevelopment Advisory Board, the city of Salem said on Facebook Thursday.

Board members must live either in ward 5, the region representing north Salem, and ward 6, which represents east Salem.

There is also an open at-large position.

The 11-member board advises the city’s Urban Renewal Agency on conservation, rehabilitation and redevelopment in north Salem.

They hold meetings on the first Thursday of each month, though the board is only required to meet once a quarter, according to the city’s website.

Five members represent the interests of businesses, property owners and others with financial or job-related interests in the area, three represent the Salem community at-large and three represent residential areas. The term length is three years.
