Bonn Wright heads outside to work in a South Salem High School video "70 and Counting"
Donning safety glasses and lab coats, two South Salem video production teams earned finalist spots in a state workplace safety competition.
Their videos are among five finalists in a video contest by the Oregon Youth Employee Safety Coalition encouraging teen workers to "Speak up. Work safe."
Teens are more likely to be injured on the job, the coalition said in a news release.
"Afraid of being terminated or punished, teens continue to work in unsafe conditions," South Salem student Bonn Wright says.
Three contest winners will take home between $300 and $500, with a matching amount for their school. Contest winners will be announced during a video-viewing and awards event to be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, at Northern Lights Theatre Pub in Salem.
