Contemporary art collection on sale Tuesday to benefit Assistance League

“Fear,” a photo collage by Philip V. Augustin, is among the contemporary art works on sale May 3 at the Assistance League of Salem-Keizer’s Encore Furniture Store.

Salem art lovers can grab a new piece for their collections starting Tuesday while supporting a local nonprofit.

The Assistance League of Salem-Keizer is selling 19 lithographs, acrylics, collages and serigraphs donated by an anonymous local collector.

The collection includes two pieces by Salem artist Jody Bartruff, as well as works by Russian painter Mihail Chemiakin, American artist Michael Godard and others.

“This is a unique opportunity for Salem art lovers,” said Jane Berry-Eddings, manager of Encore Furniture, in a statement.

The pieces will be on sale starting Tuesday at the Assistance League’s Encore Furniture store, 1198 Commercial St. S., with the sale beginning at 10 a.m. All works are signed and numbered.

The store is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds from the sale will support Assistance League programs, which include providing clothing and hygiene kits to local students in need.
