The topic: A Marion County grand jury found a Salem police officer was justified in shooting and killing a 28-year-old man in northeast Salem after he fought with officers and deployed one of their Tasers, according to a statement from District Attorney Paige Clarkson’s office. The statement provided the first public information about what led to the shooting on Northeast Center Street. Read the original story HERE. Meantime, a managed micro shelter village on Northeast Portland Road is doubling its capacity to serve 80 people. “Village of Hope” previously needed to clear out by May but received a 90-day extension from the city after a judge’s order blocked work on a Center Street property city officials intended to replace it (that story is HERE).
