Confrontation leads to shooting on I-5 in Salem Friday morning, police say

State police say a confrontation between two drivers led to a shooting on Interstate 5 in Salem Friday morning.

Around 8:50 a.m., police responded to a shooting on the freeway near Northeast Portland Road, according to a Friday evening news release.

The cars involved were a silver 2013 Nissan Juke four-door crossover SUV and a dark blue 2012 Chevrolet Caprice four-door sedan, the news release said.

Police released little information about the incident and said they are not releasing the names of the drivers while they investigate.

Police said anyone who saw either car driving on Interstate 5 southbound between Wilsonville and Salem should call OSP’s Dispatch Center at 800-442-0776 and reference case number SP22-083777. They can also call *OSP (*677) from their mobile.
