Man who robbed northeast Salem Subway at knifepoint still at large, police say

Salem police are searching for a man they say robbed a northeast Salem Subway at knifepoint before fleeing on March 31.

Salem Police Department officers responded around 9:45 a.m. to a report of an armed robbery at the Subway in the 2800 block of Northeast Lancaster Drive, according to a news release.

Using a knife, the man demanded money from the employee at the counter, who stepped away from the till and yelled for help.

“The suspect then fled the store on foot,” the news release said.

Employees described the man as wearing a gray and black baseball cap, a dark blue jacket, dark red gloves, blue jeans and dark shoes. He also carried a black backpack and wore a dark neck gaiter pulled up to his nose, the news release said.

Salem police asked anyone who knows the man’s identity or has information about the case to call the Salem Police Tips Line at 503-588-8477.
