Salem City Council to interview candidates for Ward 8 vacancy Monday

The Salem City Council on Monday is interviewing applicants for the Ward 8 vacancy following Jim Lewis’ resignation.  

Councilors will interview four applicants for the west Salem position starting at 6 p.m. March 21.

On March 16, the Council Board and Commission Appointments Committee voted to advance Jesse Barton, a Salem lawyer; Chris Cummings, CEO of Petra Technologies; Martin Hepp, deputy chief information officer at the Oregon Employment Department and Micki Varney, a salmon biologist. 

The replacement will serve the remainder of Lewis’ term, which ends Dec. 31.
