Oregonians can now get help finding jobs in 12 languages through WorkSource Oregon

A local employment program is now providing help in 12 languages for Oregonians searching for jobs.

People can schedule in-person or virtual meetings with a specialist at a local WorkSource Oregon center, available throughout the state. The program is a partnership with the Oregon Employment Department and state, local and nonprofit agencies, according to its website.

WorkSource Oregon has expanded its languages to the following: Amharic, Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, Farsi, Korean, Lao, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Vietnamese, a Wednesday news release said.

“Our WorkSource Oregon centers are dedicated to providing services to all Oregonians,” said Jim Pfarrer, director of workforce operations, in the news release. “This is just one step toward making sure all job seekers, regardless of their preferred language, can get help changing careers, updating their resume, finding a job and more.”

Appointments can be scheduled online at WorkSourceOregon.org, with a contact button for all language pages. Time can also be scheduled to use a WorkSource Oregon computer “for job search activities,” the news release said.

People looking to get help over the phone in a language other than English can call the WorkSource Oregon Language Access Line at 833-685-0845.
