No arrests, one hospitalized after shooting Wednesday in east Salem, deputies say

A shooting Wednesday night in east Salem left one person hospitalized with serious injuries, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday.

Nobody has been arrested for their role in the shooting, according to a news release.

Around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, deputies responded the area of Northeast Hayesville Drive near Northeast Reimann Street where a 911 caller reported a shooting had just occurred.

They arrived and found one victim with serious injuries who was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. The sheriff’s office said in the news release it is not releasing information about the victim or their medical status.

Detectives with the sheriff’s office’s Criminal Investigations Unit are investigating the shooting.

The sheriff’s office asked witnesses to call its non-emergency number at 503-588-5032 or to submit an anonymous tip by texting TIPMCSO and their tip to 847411.
