Demonstrators brought the war in Ukraine home to Salem on Sunday, March 6.

They gathered at a downtown Salem intersection, waving at passing vehicles and waving signs that called for peace and showed opposition to the war.

The event was organized by Oregon PeaceWorks and the Oregon Fellowship of Reconciliation.

The demonstration came as Ukraine forces, both civil and military, fought invading Russian troops to a standstill. But Ukraine authorities have been bracing their country for escalating tactics by the invaders.
