Trucker convoy at State Capitol Thursday morning, possible traffic nearby

(Saphara Harrell/Salem Reporter)

The Salem Police Department said Thursday morning that an event including a vehicle convoy will take place at the Oregon State Capitol starting at 10 a.m.

Fliers and other posts circulating on social media say a convoy of truckers will drive to the event.

A Facebook page called FreeOregon posted about the event, listing requests that included “end the state of emergency,” “stop deleting testimony” and “end the mask mandates.”

Police cited fliers posted on social media, saying participants and the convoy are expected to arrive earlier, and the event will end at 1:30 p.m.

Normal traffic flow may be interrupted near the Capitol Mall and downtown. “Please take this into consideration as you plan your travel in the city today,” Salem police wrote in a statement.

People can find any traffic or police advisories on Salem police and Oregon State Police social media.
