AGENDA: Salem City Council meets Monday to consider new city flag

The Salem City Council meets Monday evening to consider a recommendation for a new city flag, appointing people to the Planning Commission and holding a public hearing on the City’s Climate Action Plan.

Councilors will consider a recommendation from the Planning Commission to adopt a new city flag.

Councilor Tom Andersen will ask that the council hold a public hearing on the City’s Climate Action Plan at the earliest possible date.

The council will consider appointing two applicants to the Salem Planning Commission for terms that end on Dec. 31, 2025.

They will consider authorizing the city manager to submit applications for federal transportation funding for five projects. They include portions of Southeast Commercial Street, Southeast McGilchrist Street, State Street and Northeast Center Street.

Councilors will consider approving a pay increase for fire managers. It would increase fire management pay grades 7% retroactive to January, another 5% increase in July and another 3% increase in November.
