Salem police said Friday that a protest is planned on the state capitol grounds Saturday.
In a news release, the Salem Police Department said they and Oregon State Police are aware of the planned protest, which is slated to start at noon Saturday.
Police didn’t provide details on the protest, but it appears to correspond to fliers shared on social media for a “Never Stop Fighting” rally calling for justice for those charged in connection with the U.S. Capitol insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021.
The fliers say the event runs Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
One flier for the rally showed two Proud Boys flags outside the state Capitol. The Proud Boys are a far-right group that have engaged in street brawls in Salem and across the U.S.
The fliers don’t say who is organizing the protest or provide further information.

Salem police and OSP could not immediately be reached Friday for further clarification.
OSP is responsible for events that happen at the state capitol, but Salem Police will assists as needed. “We are prepared to address circumstances should a law enforcement response within the city be necessary,” the news release said.
Police said residents traffic flow may be disrupted near the capitol building late morning and into the afternoon, the news release said. Information will be available on OSP’s media platforms, and any traffic or police advisories will be announced on Salem police’s social media.
