Man injured in Thursday morning shooting in Highland area

Salem police are investigating a shooting Thursday morning that left a man injured.

Around 9:20 a.m., officers responded to a reported shooting at the intersection of Northeast Pine and Broadway streets, a Thursday news release said.

Police found a man with non-life-threatening injuries, and he was transported to Salem Hospital for treatment.

Salem officers contacted other law enforcement agencies “who assisted with a search for the suspect,” according to the news release. “That search has concluded, and Salem Police detectives have taken over the investigation. There is no known danger to the public.”

Lt. Debbie Aguilar, Salem police spokeswoman, said in an email Thursday afternoon that no suspect had been arrested or identified.

According to the news release, the department is investigating the shooting and would not release any more information. They said anyone with information should call the Salem Police Tips Line at 503-588-8477
