Data digest: Covid by the numbers for Oct. 19, 2021

Salem Reporter is keeping you informed of the latest Covid numbers. Here’s our report for Tuesday, Oct. 19.

New Covid cases reported in Marion County: 116

New Covid cases reported in Polk County: 51

Total Salem Hospital patients with Covid: 50 as of Tuesday morning, the same as Monday. Of those, eight are in the intensive care unit, and three are on ventilators. 

Thirty-nine of those in the hospital are not vaccinated against Covid.

Total Salem Hospital bed occupancy: 492 of 494 licensed beds in use

Total people hospitalized with Covid in Region 2 (Marion, Polk, Yamhill, Linn, Benton, Lincoln counties): 83, an increase of 12 from Monday. Of those, 13 are in the intensive care unit and four are on ventilators.

Total Region 2 hospital bed occupancy: 86 of 89 staffed ICU beds and 569 of 576 non-ICU beds in use. 

New Covid deaths reported: 41

New Covid vaccines in Oregon: 4,438 new Covid vaccine doses on Oct. 18, including 793 first doses, 732 second doses and 2,799 third doses.
