Data digest: Covid by the numbers for Oct. 15, 2021

Salem Reporter is keeping you informed of the latest Covid numbers. Here’s our report for Friday, Oct. 15. 

New Covid cases reported in Marion County: 125

New Covid cases reported in Polk County: 16

Total Salem Hospital patients with Covid: 60 as of Friday morning, a decrease of three from Thursday. Of those, 10 are in the intensive care unit, and seven are on ventilators. 

Forty-six of those in the hospital are not vaccinated against Covid.

Total Salem Hospital bed occupancy: 473 of 494 licensed beds in use

Total people hospitalized with Covid in Region 2 (Marion, Polk, Yamhill, Linn, Benton, Lincoln counties): 97, a decrease of one from Thursday. Of those, 19 are in the intensive care unit and nine are on ventilators.

Total Region 2 hospital bed occupancy: 83 of 87 staffed ICU beds and 557 of 569 non-ICU beds in use. 

New Covid deaths reported: 20

There were two Marion County deaths reported Thursday: A 69-year-old man who tested positive on Oct. 9 and died on Oct. 13 at Salem Hospital. A 52-year-old man who tested positive on Oct. 8 and died on Oct. 11 at Salem Hospital. Both had underlying conditions.

No Polk County deaths were reported. 

New Covid vaccines in Oregon: 5,841 new Covid vaccine doses on Oct. 14, including 1,086 first doses, 1,049 second doses and 3,666 third doses.
