Data digest: Covid by the numbers for Oct. 14, 2021

Salem Reporter is keeping you informed of the latest Covid numbers. Here’s our report for Thursday, Oct. 14. 

New Covid cases reported in Marion County: 98

New Covid cases reported in Polk County: 37

Total Salem Hospital patients with Covid: 63 as of Thursday morning, a decrease of one from Wednesday. Of those, 10 are in the intensive care unit, and five are on ventilators. 

Fifty-one of those in the hospital are not vaccinated against Covid.

Total Salem Hospital bed occupancy: 464 of 494 licensed beds in use

Total people hospitalized with Covid in Region 2 (Marion, Polk, Yamhill, Linn, Benton, Lincoln counties): 98, a decrease of six from Wednesday. Of those, 21 are in the intensive care unit and eight are on ventilators.

Total Region 2 hospital bed occupancy: 85 of 87 staffed ICU beds and 563 of 571 non-ICU beds in use. 

New Covid deaths reported: 24

There was one Marion County death reported Wednesday, an 83-year-old woman who tested positive on Aug. 25 and died on Sept. 22 at Salem Hospital. She had underlying conditions.

No Polk County deaths were reported. 

New Covid vaccines in Oregon: 6,401 new Covid doses on Oct. 12, including 1,110 first doses, 1,150 second doses and 4,104 third doses.
