Data digest: Covid by the numbers for Oct. 13, 2021

Salem Reporter is keeping you informed of the latest Covid numbers. Here’s our report for Wednesday, Oct. 13.

New Covid cases reported in Marion County: 139

New Covid cases reported in Polk County: 30

Total Salem Hospital patients with Covid: 64 as of Wednesday morning, a decrease of six from Tuesday. Of those, 10 are in the intensive care unit, and five are on ventilators. 

Fifty-four of those in the hospital are not vaccinated against Covid.

Total Salem Hospital bed occupancy: 463 of 494 licensed beds in use

Total people hospitalized with Covid in Region 2 (Marion, Polk, Yamhill, Linn, Benton, Lincoln counties): 104, a decrease of four from Tuesday. Of those, 20 are in the intensive care unit and nine are on ventilators.

Total Region 2 hospital bed occupancy: 75 of 83 staffed ICU beds and 566 of 584 non-ICU beds in use. 

New Covid deaths reported: 33

The weekend’s reported deaths included four Marion County residents. They are: 

A 75-year-old man who tested positive on Sept. 28 and died on Oct. 2 at Legacy Silverton Medical Center. 

A 79-year-old woman who tested positive on Sept. 24 and died on Oct. 8 at Salem Hospital. 

A 52-year-old man who tested positive on Sept. 13 and died on Oct. 4 at Salem Hospital. He had underlying conditions.

A 70-year-old woman who tested positive on Sept. 7 and died on Oct. 6 at Salem Hospital. 

All had underlying conditions. 

Four Polk County residents died. They are: 

A 74-year-old woman who tested positive on Sept. 19 and died on Oct. 4 at Salem Hospital. She had underlying conditions.

A 67-year-old man who tested positive on Sept. 15 and died on Oct. 8 at Salem Hospital. Presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.

A 52-year-old woman who tested positive on Sept. 14 and died on Oct. 9 at Salem Hospital. She had no underlying conditions.

New Covid vaccines in Oregon: 6,401 new Covid doses on Oct. 12, including 1,110 first doses, 1,150 second doses and 4,104 third doses.
