Data digest: Covid by the numbers for Oct. 12, 2021

Salem Reporter is keeping you informed of the latest Covid numbers. Here’s our report for Tuesday, Oct. 12.

New Covid cases reported in Marion County: 112

New Covid cases reported in Polk County: 64

Total Salem Hospital patients with Covid: 70 as of Tuesday morning, a decrease of one from Monday. Of those, 11 are in the intensive care unit, and eight are on ventilators. 

Fifty-eight of those in the hospital are not vaccinated against Covid.

Total Salem Hospital bed occupancy: 488 of 494 licensed beds in use

Total people hospitalized with Covid in Region 2 (Marion, Polk, Yamhill, Linn, Benton, Lincoln counties): 108, a decrease of six from Monday. Of those, 22 are in the intensive care unit and 10 are on ventilators.

Total Region 2 hospital bed occupancy: 77 of 81 staffed ICU beds and 549 of 565 non-ICU beds in use. 

New Covid deaths reported: 82

New Covid vaccines in Oregon: 5,808 new Covid vaccine doses on Oct. 11, including 970 first doses, 1,044 second doses and 3,771 third doses.
