Data digest: Covid by the numbers for Oct. 5, 2021

Salem Reporter is keeping you informed of the latest Covid numbers. Here’s our report for Tuesday, Oct. 5. 

New Covid cases reported in Marion County: 154

New Covid cases reported in Polk County: 49

Total Salem Hospital patients with Covid: 83 as of Tuesday morning, the same as Monday. Of those, 17 are in the intensive care unit, and nine are on ventilators. 

Sixty-nine of those in the hospital are not vaccinated against Covid.

Total Salem Hospital bed occupancy: 474 of 494 licensed beds in use

Total people hospitalized with Covid in Region 2 (Marion, Polk, Yamhill, Linn, Benton, Lincoln counties): 138, a decrease of seven from Monday. Of those, 28 are in the intensive care unit and 11 are on ventilators.

Total Region 2 hospital bed occupancy: 92 of 100 staffed ICU beds and 641 of 660 non-ICU beds in use. 

New Covid deaths reported: 44

OHA didn’t provide demographic information about Monday’s deaths by 3 p.m.

New Covid vaccines in Oregon: 6,439 new Covid doses on Oct. 4, including 1,297 first doses, 1,621 second doses and 3,485 third doses.
