Data digest: Covid by the numbers for Oct. 4, 2021

Salem Reporter is keeping you informed of the latest Covid numbers. Here’s our report for Monday, Oct. 4. 

Monday case and death totals also include numbers reported Saturday and Sunday and are typically higher than other weekdays.

New Covid cases reported in Marion County: 333

New Covid cases reported in Polk County: 41

Total Salem Hospital patients with Covid: 83 as of Monday morning, a decrease of three from Sunday. Of those, 22 are in the intensive care unit, and nine are on ventilators. 

Seventy-one of those in the hospital are not vaccinated against Covid.

Total Salem Hospital bed occupancy: 459 of 494 licensed beds in use

Total people hospitalized with Covid in Region 2 (Marion, Polk, Yamhill, Linn, Benton, Lincoln counties): 145, a decrease of two from Sunday. Of those, 31 are in the intensive care unit and 12 are on ventilators.

Total Region 2 hospital bed occupancy: 95 of 100 staffed ICU beds and 631 of 647 non-ICU beds in use. 

New Covid deaths reported: Eight

None of the weekend’s reported deaths included Marion or Polk County residents. 

New Covid vaccines in Oregon: 1,895 new Covid doses on Oct. 3, including 345 first doses, 296 second doses and 1,247 third doses.
