A Salem man was arrested after police say he shot into an occupied vehicle Wednesday afternoon.

None of the occupants of the vehicle were injured, the Salem Police Department said in a Thursday news release.

Ivanovich Garcia-Sanchez, 39, was charged Thursday with unlawful weapon use and three charges of recklessly endangering another person in Marion County Circuit Court, according to court documents.

The charges allege at least three people were inside the vehicle Garcia-Sanchez shot at.

Salem Police Department officers responded to the 3700 block of Portland Road Northeast Wednesday afternoon to a report of shots fired into an occupied vehicle, the news release said.

Officers searched the area, which included a homeless camp in the direction the shots were fired from. People in the camp gave police information about the incident that led to Garcia-Sanchez’s arrest.

“Patrol officers successfully located casings and the firearm believed to be used in the incident,” the news release said.

Garcia-Sanchez is lodged at the Marion County Jail.
