Data digest: Covid by the numbers for Sept. 22, 2021

Salem Reporter is keeping you informed of the latest Covid numbers. Here’s our report for Wednesday, Sept. 22. 

New Covid cases reported in Marion County: 266

New Covid cases reported in Polk County: 45

Total Salem Hospital patients with Covid: 101 as of Wednesday morning, an increase of five from Tuesday. Of those, 25 are in the intensive care unit, and 13 are on ventilators. 

Eighty-two of those in the hospital are not vaccinated against Covid.

Total Salem Hospital bed occupancy: 478 of 494 licensed beds in use.

Total people hospitalized with Covid in Region 2 (Marion, Polk, Yamhill, Linn, Benton, Lincoln counties): 171, a decrease of four from Tuesday. Of those, 42 are in the intensive care unit and 22 are on ventilators.

Total Region 2 hospital bed occupancy: 92 of 93 staffed ICU beds and 701 of 721 non-ICU beds in use. 

New Covid deaths reported: 26

OHA released demographic information for three Marion County residents whose deaths were reported Tuesday. No Polk County residents were listed.

They are: 

A 95-year-old woman who tested positive on Sept. 14 and died on Sept. 18 at Salem Hospital. 

A 55-year-old woman who tested positive on Sept. 9 and died on Sept. 15 at Salem Hospital. 

A 71-year-old man who tested positive on Sept. 7 and died on Sept. 16 at his residence. 

All had underlying conditions.

New Covid vaccines in Oregon: 3,486 new Covid vaccine doses administered on Sept. 21, including 1,774 first doses.
