Data digest: Covid by the numbers for Sept. 16, 2021

Salem Reporter is keeping you informed of the latest Covid numbers. Here’s our report for Thursday, Sept. 16. 

New Covid cases reported in Marion County: 205

New Covid cases reported in Polk County: 42

Total Salem Hospital patients with Covid: 96 as of Thursday morning, an increase of seven from Wednesday. Of those, 21 are in the intensive care unit, and 10 are on ventilators. 

Eighty-two of those in the hospital are not vaccinated against Covid.

Total Salem Hospital bed occupancy: 473of 494 licensed beds in use

Total people hospitalized with Covid in Region 2 (Marion, Polk, Yamhill, Linn, Benton, Lincoln counties): 175, an increase of 14 from Wednesday. Of those, 35 are in the intensive care unit and 15 are on ventilators.

Total Region 2 hospital bed occupancy: 91 of 95 staffed ICU beds and 709 of 724 non-ICU beds in use. 

New Covid deaths reported: 11

None of Thursday’s reported deaths included Marion or Polk County residents. Wednesday’s deaths included three Marion County deaths. 

-A 47-year-old man who tested positive on Sept. 9 and died on Sept. 14 at Salem Hospital. 

-A 95-year-old woman who tested positive on Aug. 30 and died on Sept. 8 at her residence. 

-An 84-year-old woman who tested positive on Aug. 19 and died on Sept. 7 at her residence. 

All had underlying conditions.

New Covid vaccines in Oregon: 3,643 new Covid vaccine doses administered on Sept. 15, including 1,887 first doses.
