To bring awareness to mental illness and addiction, Bridgeway Recovery Services is holding its 8th annual Run for Recovery on Saturday, Sept. 25 in Riverfront Park.

“This past year has been full of isolation and uncertainty, so we know that people may need mental health support and substance use treatment more than they ever have. At the very least, we all want connection. Our Run for Recovery will do all of that: raise awareness about recovery from mental illness and addiction, reduce the stigma associated with these struggles, and give people an opportunity to safely gather again and reconnect,” the event page said.

There’s a 5K and 10K walk/run and a one-mile walk. The 10K begins at 9:30 a.m., the 5K begins at 10:00 a.m., and the one-mile walk begins at 10:10 a.m.

Registration costs range from $15 to $25 depending on the race.

Attendees can participate virtually if they prefer.

Teams of five or more people get a $5 discount for each person.

Anyone interested in volunteering can sign up through the registration site.

“This is an invitation to celebrate recovery not only from addiction, but also our community’s recovery from the Covid pandemic,” said Tim Murphy, CEO of Bridgeway Recovery Services, in a statement.
