The Salem Saturday Market is closing two hours early on Aug. 14 because of the heat.

The market will close at 1 p.m., Salem Community Markets announced on Twitter.

The market said they were closing a couple hours early “to keep vendors, staff and guests safe,” as temperatures are expected to reach 99 degrees.

Peter Fernandez, Salem’s public works director, said Union and Winter streets, which are partially closed to allow people to walk to the market on Saturdays, would remain closed until 4 p.m.
