Data digest: Covid by the numbers for Aug. 11, 2021

With Covid cases and hospitalizations climbing in Oregon, Salem Reporter is keeping you informed of the latest numbers. Here’s our daily report for Wednesday, Aug. 11. 

New Covid cases reported in Marion County: 116

New Covid cases reported in Polk County: 48

Total Salem Hospital patients with Covid: 65, an increase of four from Tuesday. Of those, 11 are in the intensive care unit, and seven are on ventilators.

Total Salem Hospital bed occupancy: 454 of 494 licensed beds in use

Total people hospitalized with Covid in Region 2 (Marion, Polk, Yamhill, Linn, Benton, Lincoln counties): 98, an increase of six from Tuesday. Of those, 18 are in the intensive care unit and 10 are on ventilators.

New Covid deaths reported: 8 in Oregon, none in Marion or Polk counties.

New Covid vaccines in Oregon: 5,936 new doses administered, including 2,312 first doses of vaccine. Most Covid vaccines require two doses.
