A community event in Englewood Park scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 14 has been canceled for the second year in a row due to climbing Covid cases.

The Englewood Forest Festival board decided on Friday to cancel the annual event, President Alan Scott said. The festival brings artists, musicians and local vendors to Englewood Park in northeast Salem. It’s sponsored in part by the NorthEast Neighborhood Association.

Following a 2020 pandemic cancellation, board members had hoped to revive the event for 2021.

The board believes that with the rights to share joy and celebrate community in our public spaces, comes the responsibility to that same community to recognize and promote health and wellness safety. While we are deeply saddened by this decision, the board unanimously believes it to be the right thing to do at this time,” board members said in a statement.
