The Marion County Board of Commissioners meets Wednesday to consider a resolution opposing a mask mandate for students, approve the Community Development Block Grant Consolidated Plan and a contract with Willamette Workforce Partnership to distribute federal Covid relief funding.

AGENDA

The commissioners will consider a resolution supporting local oversight of Covid response in light of Gov. Kate Brown directing the Oregon Health Authority and Oregon Department of Education to create a rule requiring masks inside all Oregon schools now. During a July press conference, Brown cited the wider spread of the more contagious Delta variant of the virus.

The commissioners also will consider approving the Community Development Block Grant Consolidated Plan, which aims to provide decent housing and economic opportunities for low-income residents.

Commissioners will consider a contract with Willamette Workforce Partnership to distribute $2.2 million in federal CARES Act funding to eligible businesses through December.

The board will also consider approving $1.9 million from the Oregon Youth Authority to prevent and reduce juvenile crime until June 30, 2023.

Meeting details: The commissioners meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the Senator Hearing Room at 555 Court Street N.E. The meeting is streamed live on YouTube
