Marion County offers emergency rental assistance to low-income renters and their landlords

Low-income Marion County renters who are behind on rent and utility payments can apply for assistance through Marion County. Landlords may also apply.

The program covers up to a year of past-due rent and may pay up to three months of rent in advance.

Marion County is prioritizing families with children, seniors, those impacted by the Santiam Canyon wildfires and people referred by other Marion County departments.

To be eligible, renters must primarily live in Marion County, have one or more household members who were financially impacted by Covid and make below 80% of the area’s median income. A four-person household making less than $56,550 per year would qualify.

Tenants may also receive assistance for unpaid utility bills from April 1, 2020 to present.

Utility costs include electricity, gas, home energy services, water, sewer, trash removal and bulk fuels. 

Landlords can also apply for the fund and get can get reimbursed for 100% of a tenants’ unpaid rent from April 1, 2020 to present.
