Marion County’s two ferries across the Willamette River will be closed for maintenance for several weeks beginning in mid-July.

The Buena Vista Ferry, which connects Marion and Polk counties south of Independence, is closing July 13 to conduct U.S. Coast Guard-required dry dock inspections and routine maintenance, according to a county news release. The work is expected to take about four weeks.

The Wheatland Ferry, located north of Keizer, will close July 19 through the end of August. The county has received federal money to install tie-off structures, a backup generator and resurface ramps, the release said.
