Oregon State Police have identified the victim of a Monday afternoon shooting at Northeast Market Street as 28-year-old Jerry Regis, of Salem.

Regis was transported to the hospital Monday, but Oregon State Police didn’t provide an update as to his condition in a Tuesday morning news release.

Police are searching for the man suspected in his shooting, described as a Hispanic man, approximately 5-foot-5 with a shaved or almost shaved head and mustache, wearing khaki pants and khaki shirt.

The shooting left the interstate exit for Market Street closed for several hours Monday afternoon.

OSP is requesting anyone with any information regarding yesterday’s shooting to contact the Oregon State Police at 1-800-442-0776 or *OSP and leave information for Detective Yoder.
