Salem Public Library food for fines program returns next month

Salem library patrons wanting to reduce overdue library fees can donate to the Marion Polk Food Share from May 1 to 15.

For every $1 donated to the food share, the Salem Public Library will reduce library fines by $5. It applies to overdue fines only.

For every $1 donated, the food share can supply three meals to families in need.

To have your late fees reduced, please forward the emailed donation receipt, including your library card number, to [email protected].

You can check your fine situation in advance by logging into your account online or with the help of library staff at [email protected] or 503-588-6315. All items returned through the library’s curbside service are checked in, free of overdue fines. Even if items you are returning have “overdue” or “lost” status, the charges will be eliminated when checked in through curbside service at Salem Public Library at its Broadway location.
