The Oregon Department of Revenue has moved the deadline to file state income taxes to Monday, May 17, giving Oregonians an additional month. The Internal Revenue Service earlier extended its deadline to file federal taxes to the same date.

The most recent federal stimulus package made changes to the tax code, and the pandemic continues to disrupt economic life. The extension is automatic and applies to individual taxpayers, including self-employed people. Penalties and interest won’t accrue on unpaid balances until May 18.

Both the IRS and the Oregon Department of Revenue will be providing formal guidance, according to a department press release.
