Woman who summoned police now charged with murder

Authorities said Wednesday that a man found dead in a southeast Salem home Tuesday was murdered by a gunshot. They identified the victim as Joshua Davy Tate, 32.

His domestic partner, April L. Gamblin, 24, was charged with his murder and lodged in the Marion County Correctional Facility. She was arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Marion County Circuit Court and ordered held without bail.

Salem police said Gamblin was the person who called authorities to report the shooting. Officers encountered her outside their home at 1485 Polo Ct. S.E. She directed them into the house, where Tate was found.

Police said Gamblin was injured and taken to Salem Health for treatment but released no other information.
