Salem Health is now asking people eligible to receive a Covid vaccine to schedule an appointment before coming to their clinic at the state fairgrounds in Salem.

The hospital will reopen its Covid vaccination clinic on Thursday, Jan. 21 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. after closing Wednesday due to low vaccine supply.

Those eligible can make an appointment through MyChart, the electronic medical record system Salem Health uses, and fill out paperwork online. More information is available on the Salem Health website.

“Even with appointments you can still expect a wait time, but lines should be dramatically reduced through this new process,” Salem Health said in a Facebook post.

To get vaccinated at the fairgrounds, you must be eligible under current state guidelines and live or work in Marion County.

Those eligible now include K-12 teachers, educators and school employees, as well as child care and preschool workers. Employees of the Salem-Keizer School District can get vaccinated as well, even if they live and work in Polk County.

Health care workers, police, firefighters, people working in correctional facilities and residents and employees of long-term care facilities remain eligible as well. A full list of those eligible under those broad categories is available starting on page 5 of this Oregon Health Authority document.

Salem Health’s vaccination clinic in Polk County is temporarily on hold due to low vaccine supply, according to the hospital’s website.
