Mt. Angel nursing home, pie maker added to list of Covid outbreaks

Three long-term care facilities and two workplaces in Marion and Polk counties have reported new Covid outbreaks.

Additionally, two long-term care facilities reported a death in the last week and an assisted living facility that had previously resolved its outbreak has been added back to the list of active cases, according to a Aug. 26 report from the Oregon Health Authority. The weekly reports only lists facilities with at least three cases of Covid or at least one death.

Lancaster Village, an assisted living facility on 4138 Market St. N.E., was added to the list this week after reporting an outbreak of four cases and one death since Aug. 13.

Providence Benedictine Mt. Angel, a nursing home at 540 S. Main St. in Mt. Angel, is reporting four cases among residents or staff since Aug. 17.

Prestige Senior Living Orchard Heights, which had a large outbreak of 55 cases and 11 deaths before it was considered was resolved, is reporting three new cases since Aug. 3.

Most long-term care facilities with ongoing outbreaks reported few new cases in the last week.

Dallas Retirement Village, at 377 Northwest Jasper Street in Dallas, had one person die in the last week. It also reported one additional resident or employee sick in the last week, bringing its total to five cases since an outbreak began on July 31. 

French Prairie Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at 601 Evergreen Road in Woodburn, reported two additional cases for a total of five cases since Aug. 5.

Country Meadows, at 155 Evergreen Road in Woodburn, didn’t report any additional cases and remains at six in an outbreak that began on Aug. 10.

Farmington Square Assisted Living, 960 Boone Rd. S.E. in Salem, didn’t report any additional cases and remains at 34 residents and employees with Covid, and seven deaths in an outbreak starting June 23.

Tierra Rose Care Center, a nursing home at 4254 Weathers St. N.E., now has 11 residents or employees with Covid, up from 10 last week. The outbreak there began July 28.

Silver Creek Senior Living, on 708 Evergreen Road in Woodburn, reported one additional case in the last week, bringing its total to four since Aug. 5.

Cedar Village, an assisted living facility located at 4452 Lancaster Dr. N.E., didn’t report any additional cases and remains at four.

Capitol Manor in west Salem added one new case, for a total of nine.

Food processing continues to drive workplace infections locally, with new outbreaks reported at a pie maker and food processor in Marion County this week. There are no active workplace outbreaks in Polk County.

Willamette Valley Fruit Company, 2994 82nd Ave N.E., reported 5 cases with the most recent person falling ill on Aug. 8.

Willamette Valley Pie Company, 1651 Eska Way in Silverton, reported 5 cases with the most recent person showing symptoms on Aug.13

Salem Hospital reported two additional employees with Covid, with the most recent person showing symptoms of illness starting Aug. 18. To date, 40 hospital workers have contracted the virus, according to the report.

Oregon State Hospital is reporting 16 people sick with the virus with the most recent person getting sick on Aug. 18.

In a statement posted to the Oregon State Hospital website Monday, it said there are no identified patient cases and the confirmed cases are among staff.

Both NORPAC food packing plants are reporting active outbreaks, with the facility on 4755 Brooklake Rd. reporting two additional cases in the last week bringing it to nine. The facility on 2498 Madrona Ave. S.E. had previously been marked resolved last week, but was added back to the list of active outbreaks after the most recent person fell ill on Aug. 3. There have been 18 cases since the outbreak started on June 5.

CabDoor, a cabinet maker in Salem, reported one additional case in the last week bringing its total to 12 cases.

A labor contractor based in Woodburn, Santos Labor Force, reported one additional employee sick with Covid, bringing it to six cases. The most recent employee started showing symptoms Aug. 7.

No new cases of the virus were reported at Keizer’s In-n-Out Burger,  MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility in Woodburn, the Amazon fulfillment center in Salem, or PanAmerican Berry Growers.

The Oregon State Penitentiary and Bruce Pac in Silverton have been added to the list of resolved workplace outbreaks after no new cases surfaced in the 28 days after the most recent person began showing symptoms.
