The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is trying to identify a man found dead underneath an east Salem duplex Wednesday.

Deputies received a call from a family living in the 3600 block of 47th Ave. N.E. that there was a “foul odor” coming from beneath the complex. They found the remains of a male whose age was unidentified, the sheriff’s office said in a news release Thursday afternoon.

Detectives haven’t determined the cause of death, but an autopsy is scheduled for Friday, June 12.
